Australopithecus Afarensis
The Australopithecus Afarensis are one of the earliest type of humans. The Aust. have apelike and humanlike features, they are believed to have walked upright, had two feet, and a brain bigger than one of an ape. The first "specimen" was found in the Afar Triangle in Ethlopia, Africa. A paleoanthropologist named Donald Johanson spent some time at the Hadar site and found a jaw bone, skull fragments, ribs, vertebrae, arm bones, a part of the pelvis, a thigh bone, a tibia, and other leg bone pieces. After lisening to the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by the Beatles, Donald then called the skeleton Lucy. Lucy was dated all the back to 3 million years ago. As you see in the picture to the left, Aust. have ape like heads, the jaw juts out, they have prominent brow bones, and flared cheek bones."Australopithecus afarensis clearly had ape-like teeth including well-defined canines [3]. The adult Australopithecus africanus seems to have lost the well-defined canines and gained more human-like teeth" (creationwiki.org)
