Homo sapien neanderthalensis
The homo sapien neanderthalensis, or neanderthals are the closest hominid species to us, homo sapien- sapien. The first fossil remains were found in 1856 Germany's Neander Valley, and neanderthals lived in Europe, western Asia, and the near east. The neanderthals died out trying to compete with homo sapien- sapien for food and resources. In 1856 workers at a lime stone quarry dislodged askeleton buried under 5 feet of mud, digging up both thigh bones, parts of an arm, and a pelvis. People saw the neanderthals as bent- kneed, thick- necked. But scientist later found out the main skeleton had arthritis which made the skeleton stooped over. The neanderthals were skilled tools men more skilled than the neanaderthals. "The Neanderthals or Neandertals... are an extinct species or subspecies of the genus Homo which is closely related to modern humans." (wikipedia.org)
